If we understand your question correctly, the you are willing to remove the password of an existing password protected file. Is that right?
In order to complete this task, there are couple of conditions applied:

2- You should know the current password of the file, in order to change it.
3- The document permission should allow you to change its security setting. If it has been secured or set to Not allowed, then you would not be able to remove or reset it. It can be checked through desktop application only, under Open document>right click>Document Properties>Security
