Hello,

I am trying to lock pdfs after signing them on the Adobe Acrobat Reader iOS app. When I sign and save the pdf, I get the following message: Forms with a signature or initials will not be editable once saved. This is not the case, once I send via email, our customers can still fill all the fields intended for our coworkers only. How do I lock the pdfs after signing them on an iPad? Is this possible? I know I can do it via the desktop app.

Thank you for your help,

SM

Hi SM,

Sorry for the delay in response.

It is not possible to lock PDF after signing them on the Adobe Acrobat Reader iOS application.

When you use the Fill & Sign tool to add the signature, after saving the form there is no option to make changes to the already filled form fields.

However, you can fill the other form fields without any issue.

The behavior is same for the desktop and mobile application.

The PDF locks only when you add the digital signature to the PDF.

The feature is not yet available for the mobile application.

Hope that answers your query.

Let us know if you have any questions.

Regards,

Meenakshi

This is essential functionality in order to make the signature meaningful.

Please resolve quickly.

I was literally able to open a document I signed on iOS on the desktop, then delete the signature.

Why does the IOS app give the warning "Forms with a signature or initials will not be editable once saved" if this is not possible on IOS app? It is very misleading. This is the main function I need the app for. It should not warn you if you aren't even able to perform this function. I pay a good amount of money for a subscription that is useless unless using a laptop.

Hi @defaultk3twhdzmd0uy,

Hope you are doing well.

We are sorry, you're having difficulties. Please help me with few details to understand your issue better.

  1. Make and model of your device?
  2. Application version?

We did try to replicate the behavior on our end, however, it is working fine. Make sure your application is updated. Do save your work then try to sign out and sign in back. Reboot your device.

Note: Ensure you are connected to the internet.

For iOS Adobe Reader Mobile version: 21.09.01
