We have 11 iPads which all have this app.  2 of the 11 download PDF FORMS but do not recognize them as FORMS.  The other 9 work fine.  I've tried resetting the 2 ipads without success.  What would cause these 2 devices not to work with this app?

Hi,

Would you please provide more information about the problem?

Do all 11 iPads have the same version of Acrobat Reader?

Would you explain what you mean by "do not recognize them"?

Do you see an alert message like this?

XFAForm.png

Do you see field highlighting in light blue color indicating that the fields are "fillable"?

The PDF is a form meaning it has drop down menus and spaces to fill in text.  On 9 of the ipads this works great.  On 2 of them, the form fields do not show up.  On those it's just a flat PDF.  No error is given....just the form fields are not available.

On the two iPads, it sounds like the PDF forms are already flattened.  Once a PDF form is flattened, it's no longer fillable.

Would you please send the original blank PDF form to the two iPads and see if it works?

I have tried re-sending/downloading the forms several times as well as resetting the ipads in question without success.  The forms are working on other ipads.  Is there a setting or something where I can tell if it is flattened?

Hi,

If a PDF form is fillable, form fields are highlighted in light blue color.

Once a PDF form is flattened, it is no longer fillable.  You will not see field highlight in light blue.

There are non-Adobe PDF viewers (including the built-in PDF preview feature in Apple's Mail app and Safari) available on iOS.  However, vast majority of PDF viewers do not support form filling.  Please make sure that the PDF form is opened in Adobe Acrobat Reader.

If you are still having problems with the form on the two iPad, would you please post screenshots of the PDF form in your next forum reply?

How to add a screenshot to a forum message from iPad/iPhone

We can check if the PDF form is opened in Acrobat Reader.

Thank you.
