Hi Rogerc,
Sorry for the trouble caused.
Could you please try once to sign out of the application and reboot the device?
If you cannot sign out, just try to reboot the device.
Then launch the application and check if it works fine.
NOTE: Please do not uninstall the Reader without creating a backup of the files. Removing the application will delete all the local PDFs associated with it.
We will be waiting for your response.
Let us know the is the issue persists.
Regards,
Meenakshi

I have nearly the same issue. I also updated the AR 18.09.13 today on my iPad Pro 12.9 / 2nd gen running iOS 11.4.1. and once I launched it, the Home page opens and AR got stuck and froze. None of the icons or buttons work so I can't access any of the files. I already tried rebooting the iPad with no luck, still freezes. NOTE: the same update works fine on my iPhone 6s with iOS 11.4.1.
In the meantime I used iTunes to access and save the files from my iPad to my Mac. If Adobe doesn't fix this soon, I'll try reinstalling AR to see if that alleviates the problem. If that doesn't work, I'll use a different PDF app.

UPDATE:
Problem fixed or rather it fixed itself. An Adobe tech guy contacted me and had me try really the same thing I tried before. I thought what’s the harm. I’ll try it again. I just rebooted the iPad and waited 3-5 minutes like he advised. At first, the same thing happened. Interesting I noticed the system clock at the top didn’t change during the 3-5 minutes, while it was up. I didn’t quit it but I put it in the background. I came back to AR and it still was frozen but the clock updated itself. Literally it was like starring at a screenshot jpeg. I then went out of the app again and came back to it and voila, AR started working as normal. I was able to go through any menu, open any file, etc. So I don’t know what happened or what I did except toggle with it a bit, but it just started working.

Thanks for your response
After rebooting device, the app ever so slowly shows blank thumbnails. Some eventually contain the document images but so painfully slowly.
Several of the documents will open but it takes far too long and frequently freezes.
