Using iPad and Adobe Acrobat DC ($29.95/m)

Have a PDF file that I have annotated with numerous comments - want to send this file as email, and I want an email recipient to open and read my annotations. I try to “Share Link” but consistently receive “Error generating link”

how to resolve this?

Hi gsadvm.

Using Acrobat Reader 18.01.22, we are unable to reproduce the problem.

Would you please you sign out from Adobe Document Cloud and sign in again?

Have you tried different files?  Can you provide more details about how to reproduce it?

If the problem persists, please open a PDF document from Local and see if "Save to Document Cloud" works for you.

Thank you for your help.

Hi gsadvm,

Would you provide more details about the problem?

What is the iOS version on your iPad?  (Go to Settings > General > About > Version.)

What is the version of Acrobat Reader?  (Go to Settings > Adobe Acrobat > Version.)

Please try the following steps.

  1. Tap the square icon in the upper-left corner to show the Tool Switcher.
  2. Tap "My Account".
  3. Check if you are already signed in.
  4. If you do not see your Adobe ID, tap the black "Sign in" text button to sign in.
  5. Open the PDF document.
  6. Tap the Share icon in the bottom toolbar.
  7. Tap "Share Link".

Do you still see the error message "Error generating link"?

Alternatively, you can tap "Share File" (not "Share Link") at Step 7 above to send the PDF document as an email attachment.

Please let us know if either one of the methods worked for you.

Thank you.

IPad Version 11.2.1

Adobe Version 18.01.15

And Yes, I am signed in

Doublechecked, but problem persists, ie ‘error generating link’

to choose “Share PDF “ doesn’t enable/allow recipient to click to open, and then read the annotation

And this is, actually, the whole purpose of what I try to accomplish.

recipient (my lawyer) and I are both in possession of the same file.

in order to share my thoughts and comments, I tap the annotation and other editing tools, and want then to send the edited PDF for recipient to also click on created annotation icons, open those, and be able to read whT I have written.

would that work?

Thank you

Hi gsadvm,

I think that you encountered a defect in Acrobat Reader 18.01.15.

Please try the following steps.

  1. Open a PDF document.
  2. Add annotations.
  3. Tap the < (Back) button to close the document to save pending changes before switching to other apps or letting you device go to sleep.
  4. Re-open the PDF document.
  5. Tap the Share icon.
  6. Tap "Share Link".

We are working on a fix for the problem and trying to release a new update soon.

Thank you for your patience.
