Before the latest update, it was not exactly easy but it was at least manageable to click on the comment tools and then select the pen to begin marking up a document. The pen must be selected again for each subsequent markup. After the update it seems adobe has added a third step to accessing the comment tools, and now it is really cumbersome—three clicks to just get to the pen (or highlighter etc), which has to be done each time, for each comment. Is there some sort of non-obvious shortcut to access the last tool used? Without it, marking up pdfs using apple pen has become a complete aggravation.

Hi Allisonc,
Sorry for the delay in response.
Currently, there is no shortcut to access the comment tool.
We do appreciate your feedback on the recent update.
I would suggest you share your suggestions/ feedback with the team over here Adobe Acrobat for iPhone and iPad - Feature Request/Bug Report Form.
If you have any questions, feel free to update the thread.

Hi allisonc94953035,
We just released Acrobat Reader 18.12.00 to the App Store.
We restore the context menu for notes, text, and freehand drawing in 18.12.00.
You can long press (press & hold) over an empty page area to quickly add notes, text, and freehand drawing.
Please update to 18.12.00 and let us know if it works better for you.
Thank you for your patience!
