Prompted to make a Local File and edits were lost

Hello,

After reading, editing, and highlighting a pdf in Adobe Reader for my iPad, I tried to make a handwritten note. I was prompted to create a local file of the document, I clicked yes, and continued on. A while late I tried to make another hand written edit, and was again prompted to create a local file. I then lost all of the edits that I made in-between creating the two local copies.

Any help on how to recover the edits?
