Acrobat Reader DC "Bad parameter" when trying to copy text

Done some Googling, all hits on this error are very old and tend to deal with creating/editing PDFs in Acrobat which is not relevant. The issue here is that one of my users deals with a lot of PDFs daily, needing to open them and copy some text with the Select tool. Within the past few weeks, she has started getting this error dialog that simply says "Bad parameter" when she attempts this. In trying to troubleshoot, I have come across the fact that hitting the "Enable all features" button at the top resolves it, but this was never necessary before and I don't see why it would be. It's just copying text, there is no need to enable any embedded scripts, etc. and it worked without needing that prior. This error does not appear to be limited to any specific source of PDFs, I tested it on my own machine and get the same issue with an old printer manual from HP, the user got it opening an old water bill from her utility company as well.

Anyone else have this issue and perhaps know a solution? Even better would be knowing why this even comes up. Thanks in advance.

I have gone ahead and done so. A bit of further troubleshooting showed that it only happens on PDFs that load in protected mode and display the "Enable all features" button and you use ctrl+c. "Right click > Copy" works regardless, and PDFs that don't load protected have no issue either. I made sure to note this in the report.
