Some time ago Adobe Reader DC stopped working for me, for a while I recall it would fail with an error message but now it simply fails silently as a background process with no error message.  I have tried uninstalling, reinstalling, restarting.  I have tried using the Adobe Clean Up tool (https://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html).  I have tried fresh install from https://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/ selecting Windows 10 (English) Reader DC 2019.021.50058.  The result each time is the same.... Adobe Acrobat Reader DC (32 bit) will start as a background process for a few seconds before entering a Suspended status and then the background process terminates.  I have tried the following security settings for adobe reader by editing the registry each independently and concurrently:

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adobe\Adobe Acrobat\DC\Privileged]
"bProtectedMode"=dword:00000000
"bEnableProtectedModeAppContainer"=dword:00000000

This has not changed the behaviour either.  I can only view PDFs using web browser viewers however I would like to beable to view them in reader.

Edit: The following registry keys have allowed me to open files again.  The only difference from the aforementioned registry keys is changing from Adobe Acrobat to Acrobat Reader

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\DC\Privileged]
"bProtectedMode"=dword:00000000
"bEnableProtectedModeAppContainer"=dword:00000000

Hi there,

Please try the following registries for the Reader.

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Adobe\Acrobat Reader\DC\Privileged]

"bProtectedMode"=dword:00000000

"bEnableProtectedModeAppContainer"=dword:00000000

Let us know how it goes.

Amal

Hi Ryan

We are sorry for the trouble. As described the AcroRd32 silently fails.

Please refer to a similar discussion (https://community.adobe.com/t5/acrobat-reader/adobe-acrobat-reader-crashing-acrord32-exe-application...) and see if that works.

If it still doesn't work, please create a new test user profile with full admin rights and try using the application there and check.

Let us know how it goes.

Regards

Amal.

Hi Amal,

I attempted uninstalling once again with the Adobe Cleaner tool and then created a local administrator profile, and from the new local adminstrator profile reinstalled and attempted to run Acrobat Reader DC as Administrator.

The observed behaviour was unchanged.   The process starts up in the background and then suspended within a few senconds and then silently terminates with no error dialog box.

Regards

Ryan
