All of a sudden my Adobe Reader app will not allow me to Search (anything - not found) and highlight does not work. In chatting with Adobe Support, I uninstalled, reinstalled, signed back in and same issue.. no results and any search, and highlight still not highlighting. Any words of wisdom ?

We are sorry for the trouble. As described you are unable to search and highlight anything in a PDF file.
Is this a behavior with a particular PDF file or with all the PDFs? Please try with a different PDF file and check.
Also we can see that you are using an old version 20.009.20063. Please update the application to the new version 20.009.20074 and see if that works for you. Go to Help > Check for Updates. You may also try to reset the preferences to default as described in the help page https://community.adobe.com/t5/acrobat/how-to-reset-acrobat-preference-settings-to-default/td-p/4792...
If it still doesn't work, please try to turn off the protected mode for testing. Go to Adobe Acrobat Reader DC > Preferences > Enhanced Security > Turn off the protected mode and Uncheck the enhanced security > Click OK
Ifit still doesn't work, please enable the root account in Mac and try using the application there and see if its working fine there.
