Can't install reader

I have repeatedly tried to uninstall and reinstall Reader to no avail. Even had help from Adobe who suggested I post here. I've used cleaner and there doesn't appear to be Reader anywhere on my computer, but when trying to install I keep getting the error message: "Found a higher version Adobe Acrobat Reader in the installation location. Installation will terminate." Any help would be appreciated. I'm left using Preview or buying Pro.

We are sorry for the trouble. AS described you are unsbale to install Acrobat Reader and getting the error messge 'Found a higher version Adobe Acrobat Reader in the installation location. Installation will terminate'

Are you on a Mac or Windows machine and what is the version of the OS?

Please try the following steps and see if that works for you

• Remove the application using the Acrobat Cleaner Tool https://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html 
• Rebpoot the computer
• Reinstall the application using the link https://helpx.adobe.com/in/download-install/kb/acrobat-downloads.html

Also make sure you remove the application from trash as well before reinstalling (For Mac Only)

If it still doesnt work, please create a new test user profile with full admin rights or enable the root account in Mac and try installing the application there and check.
