Hi! I can no longer open PDF files with Adobe Acrobat Reader DC anymore, and not even the application itself. I have to open them with my browser. I have tried most things, but nothing works. Adobe support couldn't help me either when I let them control my computer. Would be very thankful for any help.

See the video I recorded of my screen and I talk more about the issue.

Hi Joel,

Hope you are doing well and sorry for the trouble. As described you aer unable to open any PDF file nor the application itself.

Please try to create a new test user profile on Windows with full admin rights as described here : https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/create-a-local-user-or-administrator-account-in-windows-...  and then try to open the PDF file or Adobe Acrobat/Reader DC and check if that works.

If it still doesn't work, please remove the application using the Acrobat Cleaner Tool https://www.adobe.com/devnet-docs/acrobatetk/tools/Labs/cleaner.html , reboot the computer once and reinstall the application using the links below:

For Acrobat Reader DC : https://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/

For Acrobat DC: https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/acrobat-dc-downloads.html

Amal

Thanks! Now I've tried everything. It only worked when I created a new user account on my PC. But I don't want to use a new account and having to download all my apps and softwares again and do all logins and installations for all things I have. Just doing that to be able to open PDf is probably not worth it, so will use another program than Adobe for PDFs 😞

Hi there

I am sorry for the delay in response. Please try to repair the user profile as described here https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/fix-a-corrupted-user-profile-in-windows-1cf41c18-7ce3-12... and see if that works for you.
