Hello,

We are running Carbon Black and when we try to preview a PDF in IE we get error 523:523. What we've done so far

  • Disabled protected mode
    • This works but isn't ideal as it completely disabled the feature.
  • Disabled Carbon black on the endpoint
    • The issue goes away
  • Used a different browser (with CB enabled)
    • The issue goes away.

I found this guide on creating exceptions in Protected mode but I can't figure out exactly how the syntax works or if I'm on the right track.

Does anyone have more familiary with this issue, there are many other threads I've seen with the same error and same opening method through IE but the resolution always seems to be too broad; either disable protected mode or exception out everything Adobe does in your AV.

Thank you.

Thanks for the reply.

We can temporarily bypass it a number of ways, but as you pointed out these are temporary measures given how wide sweeping they are. We've submitted some procmon logs to them for analysis as well.
