Error: “Content Preparation Progress” when opening a PDF with Acrobat Reader DC.

When opening a PDF with Acrobat or Reader, on Windows system, the message

"Content Preparation Progress.Please wait while the document is being prepared for reading." Status: Processing page ___ of appears before the PDF opens. ____.


How you can bypass this message and view your PDF file, we'll discuss this in detail here.


Let's get started-


Cause of the Error:

When setting up documents for reflow this message may be displayed. Changing the preference within Reading allows Acrobat to process the current page only.



  1. Open Acrobat Reader DC> From the top toolbar, click Edit and then select Preferences or Ctrl+K.




2. From the left pane, select Reading

3. Under the Screen Reader Options group box, under Page vs Document, select Only read the currently visible pages.




4. Click OK.


Note: Similar changes in preferences settings, will be applicable for Acrobat DC too.
