on our work computer getting error message adobe acrobat reader could not open (file name) because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged (for example, it was sent an an email attachment and wasn't correctly decoded).

We save the document by doing the following:

Through Avaya software we complete an Quality monitoring evaluation form that is on Internet Explorer.

We save the document by clicking on the print icon on the form

Click on 'Microsoft Print to PDF

Select "Print"

This brings the option to 'Save the file'

We fill in the File Name

Insure 'Save As' file type says 'PDF Document (*.pdf)

Then click 'save'

When we go to open the document - that is when the error message comes up.

My coworker went through these same steps above, and was able to open the document in Adobe, no error message.

What do I or the Admins need to check for me?

Do they need to unistall and reinstall Adobe Acrobat Reader by chance?

Help!!

Thank you

Sometimes applying the latest updates can address issues like this one. But if that doesn't work, try repairing the installtion using the Help menu, then "Repair Installation".

Avoid doing the uninstall from the Control Panel option (if using MS Windows).

If none of these basic steps work, then definitely use the Acrobat Cleanup and Repair Tool.

I don't see the relationship of your question and the screenshot that you've provided when Acrobat Reader DC  try to open the PDF document, not a .PNG file.

Unless the Avaya software that you're using saves to a .PNG image instead to PDF I don't u derstand the answer provided by Bernd Alheit.

Can you specify which Avaya product are you using and how exactly does it Interact with Internet Explorer?

Is Internet Explorer using the Adobe PDF Maker extension?
