How do I open a pdf file all by its self? I do not want to connect to any site on the internet, I just want to read the file like in the old days.

I have no need to connect to cloud.acrobat.com, notify.adobe.io, ims-na1.adobelogin.com, files.acrobat.com, dc-api.adobe.io, createpdf.acrobat.com, sstats.adobe.com, send.acrobat.com, adobe.demdex.net, acroipm2.adobe.com

These are just some of the sites that adobe thinks it needs to stop at just so I can read a file on my desk.

You can use the Classic version of Reader 2017 to avoid having Cloud features. The installer is available here:

ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/mac/Acrobat2017/1700830051/AcroRdr2017_1700830051_MUI.dmg

Make sure to install the updates after you install it, though.

Edit: fixed link
