I encountered the installation issue with acrobat reader DC 2019.010.21098.

My laptop has the windows 8.1. I have uninstalled the acrobat reader DC on my laptop before I try to install the version 2019.010.21098.

But the installation is NOT finished successfully with the error "the new version already installed".  Any ideas why?

Thanks!

Hi Anand,

I have fixed my windows login proble and also installed all available updates successfully.

The acrobat DC reader is working now.

BTW, my laptop doesn’t have 2013 Visual C++ and this doesn’t affect the acrobat DC reader.

So I think it is NOT necessany. You can close my case.

Thank you very much for the help!

Thanks,

Shude

Hello Shudel,

We're sorry for the trouble, please reboot the machine once and check for any pending updates of the Windows 8.1 from Control panel. Install all the mandate or optional updates.

Reboot the machine again and try the suggestion from the following help article Error 1722 while installing/updating Acrobat DC/Acrobat Reader DC on Windows

Let us know if you experience any issue.

Thanks,

Anand Sri.

Hi Anand,

Thank you for the response.

I have tried all options listed in the article in your email. The first two don’t run for me. I am able to do the steps on the 3rd one but I cannot install the Acrobat reader DC with the same error, either. Do you know why?

For the Visual C++ update, I have the 2015 one installed on my laptop but the 2013 and 2014 ones are NOT there.

So do I need to install them?

Thanks,

Shude

Hello Shude,

Make sure you have the latest Visual C++ update installed.

If you are still experiencing the issue, please install all the updates related to the OS, reboot the machine.

Use Acrobat cleaner tool to remove any installation instance and files related to Adobe Reader installation files Download Adobe Reader and Acrobat Cleaner Tool - Adobe Labs

Reboot the machine again and install Adobe Reader from Adobe - Adobe Acrobat Reader DC Distribution

If the issue persists, please create a test user profile with full admin rights and install Adobe Reader and check.

Let us know how it goes and share your observation.

Thanks,

Anand Sri.

Hi Anand,

I fixed my update problem and get a lot of updates (more than 90). After I install them, my laptop windows OS won’t be started. I am working to resolve this.

Thanks,

Shude
