Link in PDF doesn't work when attached to an email

I created a PDF baby shower invitation to be sent through email, and I created links within it for the RSVP email address as well as the baby registry website. However, when I drag the PDF into the email window to send to the group, the links do not work. How can I make them active?

What PDF plugin is used in your email software/website?

Not sure...how do I find that out?

I'm using an iMac running OS 10.13.6 and the version of Mail is 11.5.
