My PDF files can’t open on my iPad

I downloaded Adobe Acrobat on my iPad 2019. I downloaded attachments from my hotmail account and tried opening them without success. The message displayed is"Please wait...If this message is not eventually replaced by the proper contents of the document, your PDF viewer may not be able to display this type of document..."

Howevever, using Adobe Acrobat on a Windows computer and downloading the PDF file from my hotmail account works. But, as I don't have access to a Windows computer, I would like a resolution that works on my iPad. Thanks.

You can only open this file on a Windows or Mac computer. Sad but true.
