Need the thumbnail view

This applies to Windows 7, 8 and 10, 64 bit and Adobe Reader.

In Reader X (10) and older, Windows 32 and 64 bit provided a thumbnail in Windows 7, 8 and 10. Then Reader got updated and thumbnails got updated into the Adobe logo.

Problem is, I depend on the thumbnail to tell what I am looking at. Most of the PDF files provided by manufacturers (data sheets, engineering documents) use gibberish as a language (a few letters in no particular order, some allowed symbols and a hash of hexadecimal). I also have many thousands of such documents. Telling what they are is crucial to using them.

Whither the thumbnail? Has this been FIXED?

Hi joetheengineer,

You can enable that feature in the latest version of Adobe Acrobat Reader DC.

Open the application and go to Edit menu > Preferences > General.

Check the box for "Enable PDF thumbnail previews in Windows Explorer" and click on "OK" to save settings.

Then relaunch the application and refresh the system.

Let us know how it goes.

Hi Meenakshi,

you have answered the qestion standing below. I have another question, how can i set this in GPO or the Customization Wizard?

We are deploying the Adobe Acrobat Reader DC here in our Company and if i want to check the box with the " Enable PDF thumbnail previews in Windows Explorer" it appears a window and the msi is searching to install this feature. is there a Reason, to install this Feature with the mst or the msi Package during the Deployment?

Thanks for your Answer

Regards
