When I am using Microsfot Edge browser and I click to download and open a PDF in an email on my gmail, it opens the PDF in a new Edge tab in the browser but I want it to open in Adobe Reader. How do I rectify this?

I am using Windows 10 and have already set default file type to use for pdfs to Adobe Acrobat Reader PC but it still opens from gmail in a new Edge browser.

Any suggestions?

This is really about what happens when you click a link to a PDF in Edge. Check whether Edge allows the link to download, and open in the default app. I know in Chrome it's an option. Acrobat Reader can't get involved unless or until Edge tells it there is a file to open.
