I have already been in contact with Adobe support. Since Acrobat 9 is not supported anymore I was directed to this forum.

They'll just send him back here, most likely. I really don't like this method of dumping customers with out-of-date software on the forums. As if the people here can help them with those issues... Adobe CS really needs to find a better solution for those situations.

not necessarily. some support personnel are more helpful than others.
my guess is some just hear that it's an older adobe product and don't both to listen any further to determine whether it's forum-appropriate, or not.

By posting a number publicly you have given it to the world and can expect it to be blocked for all future use.

Agreed. There seem to be a number of people in support who send people to the forums ANYWAY, even if the product is in support and the task is within their remit. I hope it's just a rogue element.

Very true. In addition, I don't think Adobe should deny users help with activation or serial-number issues, even if the product is no longer supported. If they sold the product they are required to make sure it can be activated or that a (valid) serial number be accepted by it.
I'm sure they can afford keeping the old activation servers active. And if they can't (or don't want to) they need to provide a version of the installer that doesn't require activation.
