Acrobat crashes on windows 8.1

I have been using Acrobat 9.0 for eons with no troubles. Recently I downloaded some windows updates and now it crashes when I attempt to print to printer, but not when I attempt to reprint as a pdf. If I open the reprinted version it will print properly the second time. Outputs from Word, Excel, etc saved as pdf will load properly, but will also crash.

I don't think this is a version issue, as I downloaded the latest Reader 11 and it also crashes when printing.I have updated the printer driver, and all other programs can print directly with no issues, the only one is ether Reader 11 or Acrobat 9.0 which can't.

I have thousands of pdf files on my machine and I need to be able to solve this problem. Any insight would be appreciated.

Regards.

Hi divmstr ,

Please Follow this thread to reset the preferences for the Acrobat software :- How to reset Preference settings in Acrobat.

Also Check whether is there any update available for Reader program by going through "help > check for updates " .

Then Open Acrobat Program, navigate to Help menu & repair the installation.

If the issue still persist with Reader program please refer to this article :- Troubleshoot PDF printing in Adobe Acrobat and Reader

Would like to inform that Acrobat 9 is not compatible with Win 8.1,refer to this article :- Adobe Acrobat system requirements

Also Acrobat 9 is declared as End of support Version :- End of support | Reader 9 and Acrobat 9 (and earlier)

Regards,

Yatharth

Did not make a hill of beans of a difference. It also crashes when using the form editor and opening signed documents. The solution was to declare my machine an adobe-free zone and download a free reader I found online which does not seem to have the same problems. Acrobat Reader even exhibited similar symptoms, so there is something fundamentally wrong with Adobe software.

Now can I have my $400 back?
