Acrobat DC - Check Box Font Size Has No Effect

I am having an issue with ADC Pro check boxes. The cross is too thin and difficult to see on my form. In Acrobat XI Pro when you changed the font size the cross, check, ect. would get larger without having to make the button larger. This was a way to make the cross thicker. Also if you wanted a large button and a small X in the middle of the button you could do that as well. Now on ADC when you change the font size nothing happens. The X stays single line thickness and there is no way to make it thicker.
