Acrobat DC latest update has broken Properties toolbar functionality

The latest Acrobat DC update, which installed on my computer yesterday, July 13, 2016, (unfortunately my updater was set to automatically install) has broken the Properties toolbar functionality.  Specifically in regards to editing the text within a Text Box.  If I highlight the Text Box and bring up Properties, this works--I can edit the Text Box border color etc.

However, If i double click into the Text Box and highlight the text itself and try to alter properties, the font and font size fields are grayed out.  This is if I open the Properties toolbar before going into the Text Box.

If the properties toolbar is NOT open and I double click into the Text Box, the Properties toolbar will not even open if I try to open it.

There is no option to add text box in edit tool, So, I assume you are talking about the text box that you have you added using comment tool .

If yes, could you please let us know the OS you are working on and exact dot version of Adobe Acrobat DC application.

In meantime, please try once to change the properties of the text in text box under the comment tool.

Thanks for the response.  Yes I am talking about the Text Box in the Comments Toolbar (I am not aware that there is any other tool called 'Text Box' in Acrobat).  I have put the Text Box on my main Toolbar in the 'Quick Tools' section since I use it constantly, so I don't typically have the Comments Toolbar displayed in its entirety

I see that you have a Font Properties button ('Aa' button) in the Comments toolbar.  This DOES allow me to edit font properties of Text within the Text Box, so thanks for pointing this out.

However, I use the 'Use single-key accelerators to access tools' (checking this box in Edit > Preferences > General), and this is what is broken from what the behavior was before this most recent update.

I used to be able to hit 'Ctrl-E' and this would open up a Properties toolbar.  In the past if I was just highlighted on the Text Box itself and hit 'Ctrl-E', Properties would come up and it would have options available of border color etc.

If I was double clicked into the Text of the Text Box and had text highlighted and I hit 'Ctrl-E', the Properties Toolbar would come up and I could edit Font, Font size etc.  This is what no longer works.

Further, I notice that if the Comments Toolbar is open / active and I double click into a Text Box, the font Properties comes up automatically (which is nice!).  BUT if I add the Comment Font Properties tool 'Aa' to my Quick Tools toolbar (where I have added my Text Box tool), then the 'Aa' tool does not function. (the tool icon lights up blue in the Toolbar, but no dialog comes up).

I would like to be able to keep using the keyboard shortcut since I am editing Font sizes of Text Box text constantly, and it's quicker for me to access this functionality this way.

I have the same issue.  If I select inside a text box comment and hit CTRL E, the properties box comes up but it is grayed out and I can no longer change the font properties such as size, fint, color, etc....  Same with the text in text callout (box with arrow).  I am on Win 10 Pro.

I have just started having the same issue. In addition the "Aa" tool overlays the text box, if at the top of a page, so you can not see what you are trying to edit.

Hi,

Could you please try the following steps and let us know if it works for you?

1. Click on "Comments" in Right hand side pane (Open RHP if it is collapsed)

2. Double click on the Text box to go into editing mode.

3. Press Ctrl+E and you should get a toolbar like below

I get this; however, it was better the other way. now instead of using one properties box, you need to use a second box to change the font.  You also need comments tools open.

I have the text box and call outs on the quick tools.  I use to be able to add a text box and it CTRL E and change the properties.

Now, if I create a test box with the quick tools, I have to open comment tools to change the font.

Funny thing is, you can see the font info in the properties box after hitting CTRL E; however, it is grayed out.

Yes rinconmike!  Exactly what I am trying to convey as well!  I'm glad to see others giving input on this. 

What I have done here is I have had my IT people uninstall and re-install Acrobat DC on my computer, then making sure to shut OFF automatic updates until I hear there's been resolution on this issue.  So I am back to the old more efficient behavior.  However my colleagues here have also had this update happen to their computers so they are experiencing the same problem..

The "Aa" toolbar, as shown above, does open however the biggest problem is it ,toolbar, overlays the document so you can Not see what your doing. if you press Ctrl+E the toolbar closes and exits the commenting mode.

I tried what you suggested, but when I hit ctrl+E the "Aa" and properties bar are still greyed out and non functional.

Now it's working.  I hit "T" for text instead of the text box or text callout and I got the Aa and properties bar to be active.

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling Acrobat DC, attempting to get the older version back, without success. After reinstalling still have the issue with the property text box. Hopefully the fix will be coming within the next couple weeks as promised.

Hi Andrew, all,

We have released an update today that fixes the Properties Toolbar issue and you can now continue to use it outside the Commenting app as well. Please open Acrobat or Reader DC and visit Help > Check for updates to make sure you are on the latest patch.
