I understand that DC Standard can create fillable forms from scratch. I just want to confirm that this includes converting pre-existing forms into fillable forms. Thank you for your help!

Thanks for the quick response! So, is Pro markedly better in this regard, or do you believe both programs do not convert to fillable forms well?

They both behave the same when attempting to auto-detect fields and automatically creating them. You can use both to manually edit/add fields, which you usually have to do when using this feature. I rarely use it as it often involves more work than manually adding fields or using the custom tools I use.

It is late in the discussion, but it must really be pointed out that creating a (fillable) form is much more than slapping some fields on the canvas (which is what "the Propaganda" makes you believe). This "much more" means analyzing the form's process, planning the form, planning the workflow, defining field naming, and so on.

None of those points are handled with the field recognition.

Conclusion: You have to work on the form anyway, so you better add the fields manually; you will save time with this.

(sorry, "the Propaganda": you are simply wrong on this…).

Hope this can help.

I appreciate this comment. And I am still learning the more powerful Adobe tools. However, I've been using the Pro trial version, and when I converted a doc form to a fillable form, I only needed to make some minor tweaks. It took much less time than if I had created the form from scratch. I just wanted to know if this same functionality was present in Standard, and whether it worked the same, or if, for some reason, Pro just did the job better. The consensus seems to be that Pro and Standard convert equally 'well'. I haven't had any problems yet, but I'm sure there will be some bumps down the road.
