We are trying to install Acrobat professional 201.006.x in Windows 2008 Machine which previously had Acrobat & Reader 9.5 in it. We removed the 9.5 version using Windows programs uninstaller as well as using the Adobe cleanup utility for 9.x. Still installation is failing with the error " Invalid Target Cannot be installed on a server 27012 error code. Please help.

The message seems clear. Acrobat is not for use on a server.

We have an application installed on the server which uses it to read and process pdfs as part of batch processing. the earlier 9.5 version used to work well enough but compliance dictates that we upgrade..Have we got the wrong product installer ?

Also , this is just a regular VM with Windows OS in it like most desktops and our batch process is a java program that uses this software to read pdfs. How or Why does Abode Installer consider this as a Server ?

Also, in case they have installed our Batch host as a Server , which from your reply probably will be the case .. is there any other product from Adobe which can work as a PDF reader ? Will Adobe Life cycle meet the purpose ? We did purchase license last week for the product we were trying to install , but looks like we may have to swap it in for something else . Thanks for setting us on the right path anyways
