Acrobat Versions with Mutli Tab ability

I have been searching everywhere but can not seem to find this one piece of information. I have a friend that has standard one time license and he says he cant do multi tabs. So if anyone knows please point me in the right direction

The permanent license contains the features found when it was released last year, and you will be able to buy an upgrade at some future time, to get new features like tabs. People who subscribe, however, get new features continuously.
