My Acrobat X software has stopped working with my CanoScan Lide 500F. It now comes up with an error message 'Cannot find scanner'. Other applications, including Photoshop can see and use the scanner without any problems. It used to work ok and then stopped for some reason, I think it may have been after an update to Java was downloaded but that may have been a coincidence. I have tried repairing the software without success.

Sorry for the issue you are facing.
But Acrobat X goes end of life last year. We don't support it any more.
Please try to repair it using the option available in Troubleshooting tips for scanner issues when using Acrobat
Also you can try trial version of latest Acrobat DC Download Adobe Acrobat free trial | Acrobat Pro DC
