Acrobat x will not open on workstation. I receive an error in the event log. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the software. How can I resolve this issue?

if it's never worked:
uninstall using the uninstaller
clean per Download Adobe Reader and Acrobat Cleaner Tool - Adobe Labs
restart your computer
reinstall using your installation files and serial number.
