Hi, we're trying to add headers and footers to locked pages.
Long story short: We get about 300 pages of signed documents that we used a script on to flatten the documents then we could add headers and footers to the pages and save as a new PDF. However, the addon is too old and does not work any longer.
Is there any other way to do this? At present we are running "Optimize PDF" with a few settings and that works but it is not an ideal solution. We would like to take the 300+ pages, keep them locked (either via saving as image or something), merge them all together, and add a footer (like page numbers, dates, etc...)

What addon does you use?

Flatten Pages. It runs what I assume is java script code but that code seems to be broken or no longer usable.

What happens when you use the script?

Nothing. Also, when importing the script, it states that our version of Adobe is too new. It was made for X and lower but we have DC.

In Acrobat Pro you can use flatten pages in the preflight tool.

We'll try that, thanks Bernd.

You can download a new flatten tool here:

I'm sure you know that the issue with your PDFs is that they are signed. The effort you are going through is to basically remove the signatures so the header/footer can be applied.
But, if these are your signatures, then you can write a scirpt to un-sign the PDF. If these are not your signatures, then printing might be the only way to remove them. There is also a way to write a plug-in to strip out the signatures and automate your entire process. Contact me through www.windjack.com if you are interested in such a solution.
