we have users with Adobe 10 Pro latest update/hotfix 10.1.16
When we open an IMAGE PDF (that was not scanned with OCR) we do CRTL+F and cant find words in the document like "March"
In previous versions, Adobe 10 PDF would recognize the PROBLEM and automatically offer to make the PDF searchable.
Now, we have to go to TOOLS, "Recognize Text In this File" to start the process to OCR the IMAGE PDF so it can be searched.
This extra step is making our users very angry.
Adobe automatically disabled this useful feature knowing image PDF's being a PAIN to search would trigger calls to IT help desks...
How do we re-enable the functionality where
1) User Opens IMAGE PDF in Adobe 10 Pro
2) Users hits CRTL+F
3) Adobe cant search the document - but offers AUTOMATICALLY to make it searchable. (not have to go to tools, "recognize text in this document")

It's strange, but I've never seen this happen in Acrobat X (that is, never seen it offer to recognise text). Have you ever observed it yourself in Acrobat X? Is it possible that the users previously had Acrobat DC? They won't necessarily know, but you could ask them if Acrobat looks very different, and used to have a lot of tool icons in the hand right panel.

Sorry for the issue you are facing. We are able to do OCR with Ctrl+F in Acrobat 10.1.16 or 10.1.16+Hotfix.
If a file is facing any such issue, same issue must be on earlier version of Acrobat 10 as well.
Can you please share a file where you are facing such issue via https://cloud.acrobat.com/send.
Thanks.

I was experiencing the same issue. I logged into the computer as a different user and was able to get Acrobat to automatically search. Followed the steps in How do you reset Acrobat pro to original preference settings on the user who was experiencing the issue and the reset resolved the issue.
