Adobe DC has encrypted all of my files

I recently installed acrobat DC, now every file/photo etc on my computer has been converted to adobe and it can't be opened. A pop up box says the files are encrypted. How can I uninstall this and get my files back?

Hi petera10929105

Acrobat does not have any automatic feature to encrypt the files .

Could you please let us know the exact version of acrobat DC you have and the OS version on your system?

Try uninstalling Acrobat and check if that makes any difference ,

Also please attach a screenshot of the pop up message you are getting while trying to open the files so that we can analyze it at our end .

Regards

Sarojini

The answer is still the same :

So this is obviously an operating system issue, certainly an authorizations issue.

Have you explored this option?

There is no feature in any Adobe software including Acrobat that automatically either converts all files to PDF or encrypts such files. If you have a pop-up box informing you that files are encrypted, most likely your computer system is the victim of what is now being referred to as “ransomware” where somehow your system was infected with malware that goes through, encrypts your files, and then displays a message demanding a ransom (often payment of so many bitcoins) for the code to decrypt your files.

Sorry, but there is nothing that Adobe can do to assist you with this since this is not caused by any Adobe software.

If the message is "Error: the document is damaged and cannot be repaired. Adobe Reader could not open because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged (for example, it was sent as an email attachment and wasn't correctly decoded)." this doesn't mention encryption, but I guess you could mean that. Anyway, let us know.

Hello,

I recently received a new pc at work and I am now getting the message when I try to open any of my Adobe documents. They all have a lock on them like they have been encrypted. Is there a way to restore my documents?

What can you see when you open the file in a text editor, like Notepad?

No it is not a OS issue per my IT group. They have no idea as to why this is happening to only a few and not all files.
