Can I Widen the Fields Pane?

We can resize the Navigation Pane to our hearts' content but it doesn't seem possible to resize the Fields pane when the Form Tools are open. I constantly have to scroll back and forth vertically to see or do anything. Children in third-world countries don't have it this bad. Please help. Thanks in advance.
