Cannot install Acrobat ProDC due to "application conflict" error with Safari on MacOS

Can anyone help with why I cannot install Acrobat Pro DC on my MacBook using OS X 10.9.5?

There is a repeated error at the 29% load level that says there is an "application conflict" with Safari, asks to close Safari, but then repeats this again even after closing Safari.
