Comments icons on a densely populated document have no blue halo when selecting (just a thin dotted line as a highlight). How do you get the blue halo back - it's impossible to see location of the selected comment unless zooming to 1200% and selecting each comment via comments list in order to centre the selection in document pane. Any ideas how to get more visible halos?

Hi Edward -
I apologize if I'm not understanding your question clearly, but I think I know what you're describing. Are you referring to the outline of a comment that indicates the location on the page where the comment originates? That can be blue, but could also be any other color you wish.
You may be able to make changes that improve your review by adjusting the settings in the Comments preferences (shown here). You may find increasing the size of your comments make for easier reading, and be sure to check the options in the Pop-Up Open Behavior.
How the comments display and what you can see on screen is dependent on the magnification, of course. You say your comment locations are hard to read at anything lower than 1200% magnification. What are the dimensions of the document you're viewing?
Another feature you might want to experiment with is the type of comment you're using. If you use a text frame with an arrow, for example, you can set the width of the line thicker, which is easier to see on screen.

Donna,
I believe I have the same problem Edward is describing. Here is my run at it:
When I receive a document review, containing a number of comments, I like to open the list-view of comments to the right, keeping the markers within the document. When clicking on the markers within the document-view, the corresponding comments in the comment list are clearly highlighted (pale yellow background). Vice-Versa is not as elegant: clicking an item in the comment-list on the right, does not highlight the marker in the document-view properly (thin dotted line around the marker not always updated properly)
Thank you for your thoughts on this.
Cheers, Stephan

Hi Stephan -
That's a good suggestion. Don't forget how the comment looks on screen depends on the magnification of the page, and it can be hard to see the connector lines if you're looking a very zoomed-out page.

Hi Stephan,
Yes, that's a succinct way of describing the problem - thank you!
I follow the comments list in list order, to ensure I don't miss any comments made by my colleagues. Therefore, it has always been useful and time-saving to see easily the location of each comment on the doc pane, at any magnification.
On previous versions of Acrobat, the blue halo around any selected comment was highly visible at any magnification. This feature significantly expedited my workflow. Now, however, the selection halo is virtually invisible (being a thin dotted line), so I need to zoom and pick out the location of each comment icon to find out where it is on the doc, making it a much more time-consuming and inefficient process. There is also the update delay you mention, which makes this process more frustrating (there is often a 'ghost' line around previously selected comment icons too...).
Donna - can you please explain how to change the thin, black, dotted halo style to a thicker blue (or any colour) solid line, so I can see each selected halo easily at any zoom? Thanks.
