I am trying to create a pdf file from word, but get a 'grant access' dialogue box when the word file is selected. Currently unable to create a pdf file from word or excel. Does anyone have any ideas.

Could you please let me know what version of Acrobat you are using.
Also, share the screenshot of the error message that appears on your screen.

Please check for the permissions to open that word file.
Are you running as administrator on your MAC?
Also, tell me if you are able to convert some other word file to PDF?

I have checked the file and there are no restrictions on the permissions.
Not running as an administrator
Unable to convert any files to PDF using Acrobat

Hi Mike
This is a known issue Known issues | Adobe Acrobat DC, Reader DC
Please click on "Select" button on this dialog and proceed to next screen. If you get Grant Access button, click on it.
PDF should get created fine.
