Creative Cloud Acrobat

What is the difference between Acrobat that I get through Creative Cloud and the one you offer for sale as a separate license? The one in Creative Cloud is Acrobat Pro DC and it lets me edit and manipulate PDFs. Right? So why would I need Acrobat Pro as a separate license if I get it through the cloud?

you don't.

currently, they are the same.  but when adobe upgrades acrobat dc to the next version, cc users will be able to upgrade for no additional charge.  acrobat dc users will need to pay to upgrade.

otoh, cc users have to keep paying an annual (or monthly) fee.  perpetual license holders pay once and do not need to continue to pay.
