Does Adobe Acrobat provide a way to use OCR to auto-rotate files in batch?

I have 10,000's of scanned .TIFF files of electrical schematics, many of which are incorrectly orientated in no particular pattern (i.e some are 90 and others are 180 degrees out of orientation).  I am looking for software that would permit me to automatically rotate the files to the correct orientation, so that the text is right side up.  If I converted the .TIFF files to PDFs some how, does Acrobat Pro provide a way to use OCR to recognize the right side of orientation of the text some how?  If not do you know of any other applications that might provide this feature?

Thanks

Hi Joe,

Thanks for reporting your concern. Yes, Acrobat will auto rotate the document while OCR to correct orientation irrespective of current orientation (even if some are 90 or 180 or 270 out of orientation).

It may not correct the orientation for following cases

- If it doesn't recognize any text in the document

- If there is text in document of multiple orientations

You can use Acrobat DC trial version Download Adobe Acrobat free trial | Acrobat Pro DC

Steps to use:

1. Tools> Enhance Scan> In Multiple files

2. Select all files

3. Specify settings to run OCR and where to save all the documents

Hope it will resolve your issue.

Thanks.

I would like to amend to Lovekesh's correct answer a bit.

First off, you do not need to convert the TIF images to PDF as a separate process from the OCR process. To do this, place (say) 50 or 100 of the documents into a folder and do this in quantum bits. Depending on how complex the drawings are, proper OCR can take a bit of time so be patient.

Now, In Acrobat DC, Select the "Enhance Scans" tool. There are three options in the new window (Select a file and Scan a document have icons, select the third "Recognize text in multiple files." Select/click that.

A new window will pop up and in the upper left-hand corner is a dropdown menu, select the 2nd option "Add Folders..." Using your systems navigation, select the folder you want to work with. Click the OK button. Answer the Output options as you need/want.

Click OK. Now go get a cup of coffee or something, again, this may take some time.

Enjoy the results!

Please let us know if this helps you or not.
