Download Acrobat SDK

Dec 02, 2023 Dec 02, 2023

Good morning,

I'm having quite some troubles understanding the process to download and install Acrobat SDK.

I have Adobe Acrobat Pro license; My current task is to export values from the text-fields of a PDF Document of mine, and transfer them into the cells of a xlsm file, by mean of a Macro (VBA). The fact is I realized the "Adobe Acrobat Type 10.0 Type Library" is missing into the references, hence the macro will never work.

I understood I need this enhanced tools from Acrobat SDK, but (apparently I'm a complete idiot) I'm struggling to get the exact process to download it from the page:

https://opensource.adobe.com/dc-acrobat-sdk-docs/acrobatsdk/#:~:text=Welcome%20to%20the%202021%20rel....

I need the step by step's description or I'll never work this out.

Thanks everybody in advance for the help

The type library is part of the Acrobat installation.

It is not part of Acrobat SDK.

Don't you think if I had that library in place, I wouldn't have posted this
question to the community?

I understand you're facing difficulties with downloading and installing the Acrobat SDK to enable the functionality you need for your VBA macro. Here's a simplified step-by-step guide:

1. **Visit Adobe Developer Portal:**
Go to the [Adobe Developer](https://www.adobe.io/) portal.

2. **Sign In or Sign Up:**
Sign in with your Adobe ID. If you don't have one, you might need to sign up.

3. **Access Acrobat SDK:**
Once logged in, navigate to the Acrobat section or search for "Acrobat SDK."

4. **Download SDK:**
Locate the download section for Acrobat SDK and download the appropriate version.

5. **Installation:**
Follow the installation instructions provided with the SDK. Typically, this involves running an installer.

6. **Reference Configuration:**
After installation, open your VBA project in Excel. Go to Tools > References and find "Adobe Acrobat Type Library" or a similar entry related to Acrobat. Check it to add the reference to your Nize Printing project.

7. **Update Macro Code:**
Modify your VBA macro code to utilize the Acrobat SDK functions. Make sure it aligns with the SDK documentation.

8. **Test the Macro:**
Run your VBA macro to see if it successfully exports values from PDF text fields to an Excel file.

Remember to refer to the specific documentation provided with the Acrobat SDK for detailed guidance. If you encounter specific issues during the process, consider checking forums or communities related to Adobe development for assistance.

Hello Jack34144299upny,

I hope this message finds you well. I wanted to express my gratitude for your detailed guide on integrating the Adobe Acrobat SDK into my VBA macro for the Anime Adventures Codes  Project. Your step-by-step instructions were instrumental in helping me overcome the initial challenges I faced.

Following your guide, I successfully completed the integration process, and now the VBA macro seamlessly interacts with the Acrobat SDK, allowing for the efficient extraction of values from PDF text fields to our Excel files. The clarity of your instructions, especially the emphasis on visiting the Adobe Developer Portal and referencing the Acrobat Type Library, made the entire process much smoother.

I appreciate your inclusion of a reminder to consult the specific documentation provided with the Acrobat SDK for more detailed guidance. It proved to be a valuable resource when fine-tuning the VBA macro code to align with the SDK functions.

Your suggestion to explore forums and communities related to Adobe development for assistance in case of any issues was also helpful. Fortunately, I didn't encounter major roadblocks, but knowing where to seek help provided an additional layer of confidence throughout the integration.

Once again, thank you for your contribution to the developer community with this informative guide. Your efforts have made a significant impact on my project, and I'm sure many others will benefit from your expertise.

Regards,

Irshad
