Edit text in one text box

When I originally added text to the pdf, I typed all in one text box, but when I go to edit/add text, multiple text boxes were created causing it to be difficult to edit. Is there a way to format the pdf, so that the text shows up in one text box?

No, you can't do anything about it. Acrobat parses the page when you select the Edit Text & Images tool and divides the text in it to boxes as it see fits. Since PDF files were never really meant to be edited in this way, there's no guarantee that it will behave the way you expect it to. It's pretty much guess-work (based on a complex algorithm, of course).
