Exporting PDFs to Word Programmtically

Is there a way to use Adobe Acrobat DC or another Adobe product to automatically convert PDF documents to word documents, without going through the Acrobat interface?

I am hoping for a solution involving the Adobe SDK, or something similar to the droplet option that is available for Pre-flighting PDF's.  The goal is to do server scripting to convert a batch of PDF's to Word.

No, and even if it would be possible, you would not be allowed to use Acrobat on a server or a server-like environment. The EULA does not allow that.

Are there any plans to make that functionality available in a different license in the future?  I would shell out money for it today if it existed.

That is a question you need to ask Adobe, but I would not bet on it. You may want to look into Adobe's LiveCycle PDF Generator (which is a server product): Modules | Adobe LiveCycle Enterprise Suite 4
