Help! Acrobat DC periodically freezes when I am highlighting a PDF document.

The problem is sporadic, so there isn't a set amount of highlighting that I do that triggers it. Sometimes it occurs after I try and highlight the first line, other times I make it through most of the document before there is an issue. When the program freezes I can typically still save the document if I click the icon fast enough, but after that the whole program freezes. This also freezes my laptop and I have to resort to opening the task manager through keyboard shortcuts in order to close the program. Once I do this, everything unfreezes.

I am running Adobe Acrobat DC Pro on Windows 10 Home Version 1607.

I have seen some other similar issues, but no specific fixes. I have already attempted to repair the program and have reinstalled it twice. I also had Adobe Reader installed on my system and fully removed it in case the two were interfering with each other. Neither of these actions have corrected the problem.

This problem has been posted several places on this site - is there still no solution?? Please provide a workaround. As stated in other posts over the past 2 years, this is VERY frustrating and time-consuming. I need to highlight text in PDF files, but using this function causes Acrobat to freeze.

I've used Acrobat for years, but I just started having this problem today. I'm using Adobe Acrobat Reader DC version 2017.012.20098 on Windows 7 Home Premium, service pack 1.
