How can I overcome the repeated failure of any Acrobat product - DC Reader, Accrobat XI, even the cleaner tool

I cleaned out all the registry entries for all adobe products, did a virus scan, rebooted, re-installed Shockwave and Flash, they work perfectly. Tried to install Adobe 11 on the desktop (it would not allow me to specify the Programs file) and it failed. Tried to iinstall DC Reader, it too failed. Tried the cleaner for failed installs, IT TOO FAILED!   What is going on that I cannot seem to install any product to read and edit PDF documents?   Please help!

thanks

Hi daddeekool,

Please let us know the OS installed on your system.

Try uninstalling again using Acrobat cleaner tool: Download Adobe Reader and Acrobat Cleaner Tool - Adobe Labs

Then download Acrobat Reader from this link: Adobe Acrobat Reader DC Install for all versions

Let me know if issue still persists.

Regards,

Meenakshi

Hi Meenakshi, and thanks for taking the time to respond.  I have Windows 7 64 bit home premium. I have had Adobe Acrobat and DC Reader at different times, and never before had any difficulty. Without warning, the Adobe Acrobat files disappeared - no virus was detected upon a deep scan, no rootkit of any kind.

The cleaner hangs up and stops responding and throws up an error message to close the program. This is what it's been doing every time I've tried it.

The Acrobat XI refused to install in the program files folder and only installed (sort of) on the desktop -- but no exe file and no way to start the program......it appears that the download only installed some readme and cab files but not the kernel of the actual application.

Do you have any further advice on how to get Adobe back up and running?

thanks

Daddeekool
