I am trialling the free 7 day adobe acrobat Pro DC and will buy this product if I know how to password protect my PDFs.  Can anyone please help me with this?

When I click on Tools and then Protect it doesn't allow me to open or add this option but rather pops up with this note below:

As that message indicates, you need to open the file in Acrobat, not Acrobat Reader. They are two separate programs and you have both installed. Open Acrobat first and then open the PDF you want to add security to.

I believe this is a new message, designed to remove the confusion that comes from having both apps. Been waiting for it for a long time. I would have expected it was self explanatory. brucegleeson, please let us know how this message could be made better. To me it seems so completely clear. But it isn't, so I'm wrong somehow.
