How to change cursor from crosshair to arrow

Hi, I created a form in Acrobat 9 Pro (I've requested an upgrade from corporate). I've created lots of forms like it, but this time I changed the background image using "Replace Pages". This seems to have turned my cursor from an arrow to a crosshair. Now every time I click in whitespace it places a temporary box that disappears when I click somewhere else. I've tried everything to get my beloved arrow back. It's probably a super simple fix that's just lost on me... I should mention that my form only has one layer (as far as I can tell), and I have the Select tool selected. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance!
