I cannot enter data into a PDF

I have downloaded a pdf that allows me to fill in the blanks.  I have been able to do that until today. Now when I click on the area to be completed, it locks up my computer. Anyone know why this would occur?  I am running Acrobat Reader DC.  MY OS is Windows 8.1

Hi richardd81183129

Please provide the exact dot version of the software installed at your system .Also check whether is there any update available for the software after going through "help > check for updates "

Follow this thread to reset the preferences for the Acrobat software :- How to reset Preference settings in Acrobat.

Then open Acrobat, navigate to Help menu & repair the installation.

Would like to know is this happening with all the documents or with certain one.

Please refer to this article :- Troubleshoot Windows system errors, freezes | Adobe software
