Hi thomasd20164,

Could you please let me know the acrobat version and the OS version on your system?

Also let us know the version of IE.

Does this happen with a particular pdf which you try to open online or most of them?

Please refer to this link and check whether the adobe add ins are enabled in IE :  Display PDF in browser Adobe Acrobat DC, Acrobat Reader DC

Also you can try disabling  the protected view by navigating to Edit>Preferences>select "security(enhanced)" from the categories and select the "OFF" button for protected view.

Let us know if this helps.

Regards
Sarojini

I am using Acrobat 9 with Windows 7 and IE 11.

I opened Acrobat 9 and used a help option to repair Acrobat. It seems to have fixed the problem.
