IBM Notes 9 doesn't start after updating Acrobat DC

Hey folks,

in January 2016 we upgraded from Lotus Notes 8.5.3 and Acrobat 9.5.5 to IBM Notes 9 and Acrobat DC. After first install everything works fine.

After updating Acrobat DC it always adds the following line to the notes.ini file:

EXTMGR_ADDINS=AdobePDFMToolbarInst

This causes IBM Notes to crash at startup. The following lines are written to the logfile:

[0C58:0006-17BC] 11.05.2016 16:46:35,75 Terminate> from NNOTESWC Entered

Manually removing the "EXTMGR..." line  solves the problem. Unfortunately I have to do it again, everytime after Acrobat updates itself. Of course this matches every PC in our company.

Please tell me if there is any solution to this problem. Perhaps it's possible to prevent Acrobat from adding that one line to the notes.ini?

Just to make that sure: of course I also placed this question at IBM!!!

Kind regards,

Florian Burger

This would be PDFMaker, an Acrobat add-in for many components. According to Compatible web browsers and PDFMaker applications Acrobat DC is compatible with Notes 9. It's worth checking, since there have been fixes to PDFMaker e.g. for Office just this week: is Acrobat DC fully updated? What version do you have?

I just have version 15.006.30121 installed, not the last one from this week.

The other installations in our company are version 15.006.30119. If I install 30172 on those machines, will update 30121 be included?

I think updates are cumulative so you only need to install the latest. You are using the Classic version, not Continuous, but so far as I know fixes will be applied to both, for now. Google searches, though, show this problem of the message mentioning 'PDFMLN_8_UNINST' as a problem going back several versions of Acrobat and Notes; but the crash may be a new issue.

We also had this issue with Notes 8.5.3 and Acrobat 9.5.5. so this is not new.
