Using Windows 10, I installed Adobe Acrobat Pro DC. When I try to Print to Adobe PDF, the print dialog hangs up. What can the problem be?

From which app are you trying to print to PDF? Have you tried other apps, and what happens with them?

I have tried several aps, MS Word, Publisher, WordPerfect and others.

The process begins, sends the document to the "printer" where it halts

and does not continue. I suspected distiller was hung up in the

"checking fonts" so I removed excess fonts from the Windows fonts

directory, and instructed distiller to check fonts only in that folder.

The problem remains the same -- the "print" begins and halts. (3 bars on

the progress meter). I also suspect Windows 10 is part of the problem.

I can create pdfs using other pdf writers, but I work weekly with a

commercial printer who requires special pdf settings and these require

printing to Adobe PDF.

I worked with an Adobe Chat person (Disha), who instructed me to edit

the Regedit file. No success. She said she would escalate the problem,

and I would receive a phone call, but that has not happened.

I have also raised case number 0188275951 to resolve this issue last week.  (I support about 120 customer base)  The issue with installation of the Adobe PDF Printer has started happening again with their buggy product.

There does not seem like any appetite at ADOBE to resolve this issue.

You can manually add a printer.

  • Click Start > Control Panel > Devices and Printers
  • Select Add a printer
  • Select Add a local printer
  • Check Use an existing port and select Documents\*.pdf (Adobe PDF) from the drop down. Click Next
  • Click the Have Disk… button
  • Click the Browse… button
  • Navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Acrobat DC\Acrobat\Xtras\AdobePDF
  • Select AdobePDF.inf from the list, then click the OK button
  • You will see many Adobe PDF Converters in the list, however count six down from the top and click Next USE NUMBER 6 DOWN and you should be ok. (you may need to try this numerous times to find the correct Converter from the list that works with your version of Windows)
  • Name your printer Adobe PDF   no spaces exactly as typed
  • Follow the rest of the prompts and your PDF printer should now be installed correctly

Good luck getting Adobe to acknowledge this issue.

Hi R.Stolzman

I am sorry for the delay in response.

You might try checking update for Acrobat, launch Acrobat>navigate to Help menu>select Check for updates.

If that doesn't work, try repairing Acrobat, under Help menu>select Repair Installation.

Could you please let me know the version of Acrobat DC installed on your Windows 10 computer?

To check the version of Acrobat, launch Acrobat>navigate to Help menu>select About Adobe Acrobat

Thank You,

Shivam

Been there -- done that. My Adobe Acrobat Pro DC is v. 2015.006.30243

"Repair" doesn't help. I've had 4 "excellerated" tech support persons

work on my computer and the problem continues. My Acrobat Distiller

doesn't work.
